So it is constructive feedback day on I heart faces and I am excited. I took pictures at my daughters birthday party which was fun, but even though I was sure I had everything set right the pictures just didn't turn out the way I wanted. This is one I took of Claudia and her best friend Annie that is my favorite. I did edit it up ok which I have posted under neath, but I would love some tips on what I could of improved for the mixed light setting and maybe different editing ideas. Thank-you :)

I appreciate your zeal for color! =) But this edit is overdone just a tad. The colors ended up being neon, which is not flattering, especially for their little skintones, and there are some places that are blown out in your edit that were not in the original. It looks like you are trying to create lightness and a little more contrast in your image strictly by editing the colors themselves...next time try just bumping up your contrast, adjusting the levels and curves a tad, and only slightly adjusting saturation. I think you'll get better results!

Just can't help but say "hello" from another mother of five boys, but no girlies. :)

Hi! They are absolutely adorable :). I love the crowns and fluffy stuff. My daughter has grown out of that :(.

Mixed light is always going to be a trial to edit. So I would suggest avoiding it if at all possible. Turn off the overhead lights and put the children as close to your light source (window) as possible. Get your shutter as fast as you can while maintaining good exposure and you'll have it made.

The wrinkles in the sheet will be a nightmare to edit out. I did a duplicate layer and gaussian blurred the heck out of it, and erased back the children. I then cloned the wrinkles that were left. It looked a little painterly, so I did a watercolor edit on it. Just using PSE5, nothing fancy :).

I really like this picture. They look like they are having an important conversation!

Have fun!
